Some people are doing some serious “Spring Cleaning” on their friends lists.
At least that’s what people are calling it. Which has got to concern the higher ups at Facebook including Mark Zukerberg.
I would predict that one person can probably take care of 400 friends. Anymore than that and you run the risk of overwhelming yourself socializing 24/7 just to keep up with “Likes”, comments and status updates.

The other side of the equation would be the Disfranchisement of the friend who never gets spoken to or never receives replies to their status update. It’s true that everyone is very busy, but if you have over 1,000 friends, then you probably won’t be able to pay close attention to those individuals who are truly your friends. Even close relatives can get ignored when users are “Flyin’ high” on cloud nine with thousands of friends. They get this almost Majestic attitude that they rule their online experience. That’s not a real good idea in my opinion. You have to keep your perspective.

There are Facebook users with Quality in mind and users with Quantity. And the problem with Quantity is that it’s for Showboaters only. And when more and more people take on this attitude, then a lot of disenfranchised people are the result.

The only way to slow this trend is for everyone to evaluate not just the quantity of friends they currently have, but to further consider the “Maintenence” factor of those friends. Because they are people you know. Not just pixelized jpegs from somewhere “out there”. They are your friends and family. The root of the problem is we ALL want the attention of others and to be “Popular”. But at some point one must ask “When is enough, enough?”

The very idea of Social Networking is to gain and maintain. Linkedin for example isn’t about warm and fuzzy. And status updates if not responded to are no big deal because it’s a “business” network. However, facebook hits home with people because it is more personal and laced with family photos and activities. So when someone doesn’t respond it’s like saying “I don’t care” and that’s not good.

Keep up with social status updates.
My best advice for anyone involved with Facebook is to never acquire more friends than you can adequately nurture. And since more and more people are adding status updates many times a day – that can be difficult.

You’re not alone. You are among the 90 trillion emails sent in 2009. Here are the stats:

•	90 trillion – The number of emails sent on the Internet in 2009.
•	247 billion – Average number of email messages per day.
•	24% – Increase in spam since last year.
•	200 billion – The number of spam emails per day (assuming 81% are spam).

We think it is time for Direct Mail. Our studies have shown that almost 9 out of 10 customers got a warm fuzzy from their mailbox and almost the same amount had a form of Inbox Rage toward unwanted email.

The problem is, people as a society are now having to digest more advertising than anytime in history. An overload. Our approach is to utilize directly landing your message in your customers hand while creating a warm fuzzy and powerful message to endear your brand as well as sell your service or product.

People are tuning out when it comes to their inbox. And unless you are a macmail or Outlook wizard, you will have a difficult time these days even keeping up with important client emails.

Red Hot Joe is finding that social media mixed with direct mail is a wicked combination when actually building positive awareness. Funny thing is, people don’t seem to mind receiving a facebook or twitter message (which might contain your message) because they are "in control" of that process. That’s it. Keep the viewer in control and they feel like they had a part in the pitch. And not another manipulated schmuck. We call it "Intent" advertising.

The first and most important thing you need is intent advertising. And an amazing first impression. That’s where we come in. To find out more check out http://redhotjoe.com or email: info@redhotjoe.com

In 2010, prepare for ‘business as unusual’. For the first time, there’s a global understanding, if not a feeling of urgency that sustainability, in every possible meaning of the word, is the only way forward. How that should or shouldn’t impact consumer societies is of course still part of a raging debate, but at least there is a debate. Meanwhile, in mature consumer societies, companies will have to do more than just embrace the notion of being a good corporate citizen. To truly prosper, they will have to ‘move with the culture’. This may mean displaying greater transparency and honesty, or having conversations as opposed to one-way advertising, or championing collaboration instead of an us-them mentality. Or, it could be intrinsically about generosity versus greed, or being a bit edgy and daring as opposed to safe and bland. As always, the future is unevenly distributed: one only needs to look at the Googles of this world to get a feel for ‘ business as unusual’. So not surprisingly, the other nine trends in this briefing all touch on doing things differently, driven by changing consumer preferences and desires. Time to study and learn from those brands that you think are already mirroring today’s more diverse, chaotic, networked society, and then outdo them To find out more check out http://redhotjoe.com

There are some really great programmers that I very much enjoy working with as well as trust with my life and my FTP access. However, there are also programmers and IT people giving the good guys a bad name. There are entire companies that will hold you hostage if they so desire. I am just so glad the internet it becoming easier to understand for all of us and we can get to the business of Branding your company and making you money. Being a creative agency for us means not only creating endearing brands that last but giving you the freedom to own your domain and have access to whatever is yours. We don’t make money on holding you hostage. We earn our keep by earning your trust through amazing service and great creative. We don’t need to threaten. Our clients WANT to stay with us because we make it so desirable that they don’t want to leave. It’s sad that I have to counsel some of my new clients who have been burned bigtime by bad web companies. To find out more about great service: http://RedHotJoe.com
